Established in 1996, GEL (Pvt) Limited is one of Pakistan’s leading private sector testing laboratories, providing reliable analytical services to industries across the country as well as international clients.
GEL began its journey with a focus on environmental testing and monitoring, initially offering basic wastewater analysis and air quality monitoring services. Over the years, the company has continuously expanded its capabilities and today offers a comprehensive range of environmental testing services including liquid effluent analysis, drinking water testing, soil and sludge analysis,coal testing, microbiological analysis, ambient air quality monitoring, and stack emissions monitoring.
In addition to environmental testing, GEL also provides food testing services to exporters and local manufacturers. Our laboratories have adequate resources like calibrated equipment, operated by highly qualified professionals to ensure the accuracy, reliability, and international acceptability of results. Our experienced technical team is also capable of supporting clients in defending analytical results in cases where export shipments are challenged by international buyers.

Our laboratory operates under robust quality management systems designed to ensure accuracy, confidentiality, and traceability of test results. Our Founder
Dr. Sami Uz Zaman
Global Environmental Lab (Pvt) Limited was founded in 1996 by Dr. Sami Uz Zaman, a distinguished scientist whose lifelong passion was to promote scientific excellence and environmental responsibility in Pakistan. Dr. Sami uz Zaman held a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Karachi and devoted his career to research, industrial development, and environmental protection. Throughout his professional life he served in several important scientific and regulatory positions, including Principal Scientific Officer at the Pakistan Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (PCSIR) and later Member Technical of the Environmental Protection Tribunal of the Government of Pakistan, where his role carried the technical authority equivalent to that of a High Court judge in environmental matters. He was actively involved in shaping environmental policy and scientific standards in Pakistan. Dr. Sami Uz Zaman served on numerous professional and technical bodies, including the Pakistan Environmental Protection Council, the National Committee on Environmental Testing Methodologies, and several scientific and industrial associations. His work consistently focused on improving environmental monitoring, promoting responsible industrial practices, and strengthening scientific capacity within the country. With the establishment of GEL, Dr. Sami Uz Zaman sought to create a laboratory that would provide accurate, reliable, and trustworthy analytical services to support industries, regulators, and communities in protecting public health and the environment. His vision was to develop a scientific institution that would uphold the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and technical competence. Beyond his professional achievements, Dr. Sami Uz Zaman was a mentor, innovator, and a strong advocate for the responsible use of science in solving environmental challenges. His dedication to research and technological development led to several practical innovations in waste management and environmental protection, including systems for the safe disposal of hazardous materials and environmentally responsible industrial practices. Dr. Sami uz Zaman passed away on August 30, 2020, but his vision and values continue to guide the growth and direction of Global Environmental Lab (Pvt) Limited. The organization remains committed to carrying forward his legacy by maintaining the highest standards of scientific excellence and contributing to a safer, healthier, and more sustainable future.

Laboratory Infrastructure
The laboratory consists of dedicated areas for chemical analysis, microbial analysis and sample storage area. The facility is designed to maintain controlled environmental conditions. The laboratory is equipped with analytical instruments including Atomic Absorption spectrophotometer (AAS), UV-visible Spectrophotometer, COD digestion system, Kjeldhal Apparatus, Soxhlet apparatus, Muffle furnace, incubators and autoclave etc.
The laboratory follows strict safety protocols including the use of PPE and fire extinguishers to ensure a safe working environment.
